The Portuguese school system is divided into Pre-School, Primary School and Secondary School. School is mandatory for children between the ages 6 and 18. Like other countries before children get enrolled in Primary School parents can enroll them in Pre-school which is optional. Pre-school is for children between the ages of three and 6 years old.Â
