Insights into the British education system
The English education system is divided into four stages: Early Years, Primary School, Secondary School and Higher Education. Before children attend Primary School, parents can enroll them in Early Years which is optional for children between the ages of 0-5. From the age of 5 school is mandatory for all children until the age of 16.
Primary school
Primary School is divided into two key stages: Key Stage 1 covers years 1 and 2, Key Stage 2 covers years 3 through 6. The curriculum consists of core subjects such as English, Math and Science. The foundation subjects are Arts and Design, Computing, Design and Technology, Languages, Geography, History, Music and Physical Education.
Secondary school
Secondary School is divided into three key stages: Key stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. The curriculum consists of English, Math, Science, Arts and Design, Computing, Design and Technology, Geography, Music, Humanities, History and Physical Education.
